Watch competitor offers
See what a competitor is promoting on their own site — price-match promises, sales, coupons, free shipping — instead of guessing why their campaign is outperforming yours.
What you get
- A gallery of the offers your watched competitors are showing on their own site, refreshed on each run
- The offer kind, the terms, any discount and end date, and the page it was read from
- An evidence-grade pill on every offer, so you know how much to trust the read
Watching a competitor
- Go to Settings → Watched competitors.
- Add each competitor's name and domain.
- Save. MarginTide finds the pages worth reading and offers start appearing in the gallery from the next run onward.
Watched competitors is a Pro plan feature — start with the competitors whose moves actually change your campaigns, since each one counts against your plan's cap.
Which pages are read
For each competitor, MarginTide reads their homepage plus up to four more pages, five in total. Each page shows where it came from:
- Homepage — always read.
- Discovered — found automatically from the competitor's site map and homepage links, such as sale, deals, coupon, shipping or price-match pages. Discovery re-runs monthly, or select Find pages again.
- Added by you — a page on the same domain that you add yourself.
You can switch any page off or remove it. A page you remove is not added back by discovery. Only pages on the competitor's own domain are read.
Reading the gallery
On the Competitors page, each competitor gets its own section, one card per offer: the kind (price match, sale event, coupon, free shipping, returns, membership, financing, bundle or banner), the terms, the discount and end date when the page states them, first-seen and last-seen dates, and a link to the page it came from.
Every card carries an evidence-grade pill, driven by how recently the page was read. Lean on the high-grade cards first when you're deciding what to react to.
Changes and ended offers
- When an offer's terms, discount or end date change, the card shows it as changed.
- When a page is read successfully and an offer is no longer on it, the offer is marked ended. A page that could not be read ends nothing.
- If an ended offer comes back, it returns to active.
The first time a competitor is read sets a baseline, so it does not raise alerts. After that, a new offer raises a competitor-new-creative alert on Alerts.
Each competitor costs one research unit per run, however many of its pages are read, and pages read within the last 24 hours are reused rather than fetched again.
